Which was your favourite? I really like the dynamic poses of the second draft, especially Korra, but the building framing in the first one is really nice, could you have combined them at all? Also i really like how you fixed that blank area with the zeplin but it would have been nice to have those characters spread in the mid ground. I probably sound like an ass that thinks he knows everything lol.
I see how you decided to tone down on the details and background characters inorder to gain focus on korra an her crew! Great work! Although I still would have loved to see youre 1st idea brought out in color fully as a bonus to something else. Thanks for sharing.
uhmm.. sir, i have went through your works & i was wondering... are you an artist member in a famous studio or company, & which country?!!..... my point is its been my dream to major in animations & comics since i was very young, especially animation, if not then its comics (although i don't know if animation & comics are related!!!).... since then i have been developing character's designs & stories, i even made alot of doodles & mini comics.... i am a self-taught art girl when i was a child but still i need to learn more on drawing character movement & anatomy!! same thing goes to backgrounds layouts, animals & robots, etc ... the thing is i am a 2nd year student at ACAD in Alberta, Canada... i thought that there would be animation classes or studios at the college, but regrettably not. i made alot of research about the universities & colleges in Canada before i immigrate there, but the least i found is ACAD!! up until now i have been studying fine arts, art-history & postmodernism!!!!!!......although i enjoyed the classes because they are new to my cultural experience yet it isn't what i am looking for!!!!! i am not complaining but i have been wasting time not practicing in animation & doing fabric, glass, jewelry & other fine arts !!(which i am not)!! & which holded me back couple of years!!!! but atleast if there was an animation college with degree believe me i could have registered without hesitation!!!.....so my question is: i am wondering if i could find an English speaking country that has animation schools after college or during work that accepts Canadian nationality?!!!or more clearly, is there a way to train under your teachings while working with the other staff at the studio?!!!.... the problem is, i need to practice on drawing cartoon characters & my college doesn't afford that!!... furthermore, i have noticed that there are artist on deviantart that are working for Disney, DC & Marvel Comics, Dreamworks & even neckolodion studios!!!.. my hope is to work beside them, gain experience & make my own animation & movies in the near future!!!
i think they work, but just from my opinion the left side was getting a tad heavy. But, I also like the right side sketch better, so what do i know? I think korra's silhouette just stands out better and doesnt getting lost in the frame.
Sure Korra looks far better in the final version than the sketches, but i was talking specifically about Tenzin and Lin, i too didn't like the fact they are both on the left side in upper-left and lower-left sketches, it's kinda unbalanced, but i don't see anything wrong with keeping them they way they were in the top-right original sketch (where there is one character on the left of Amon and another on his right, it' quite balanced IMO).
That said it wouldn't work with Amon raising his arms as he is in the final version of the poster, don't know .. maybe he just favored this pose to the normal pose of Amon in the initial sketches.
The other versions had Tenzin and Lin! Ahh, I've always liked this poster a lot, but it would have been great to have them there too. They turned out to be more important characters than Mako and Bolin....
